Cindy Aloise's Banana Bread
This isn't an Italian Aloise recipe, but it is one that's near to my heart, so I wanted to share it!
Best Ever Banana Bread
5 Bananas (large)
4 eggs
1 cup shortening or butter (who has shortening in the house? Not us!)
2 cups sugar
3 1/2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
optional: 1 cup walnuts or chocolate chips (whatever you like!)
Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
Liquefy bananas with an electric mixer. In a separate bowl, cream shortening/butter and sugar; add to liquified bananas along with the eggs. In a separate bowl, mix the dry ingredients. Add to banana mixture. Stir in optional ingredients (if desired).
Bake 1 hour.
Notes: Let's be honest; my mom doesn't mix anything in any separate bowls. She throws it all in one and mixes it all together and throws it in a bread pan and is done with it. I wanted to write the recipe how my Grandma Schultz had it written, though.
Also, my very favorite way to eat this bread is microwave a piece for 30 secs or put it in the toaster oven and then spread with butter. A moment on the lips, forever on the hips WHO CARES
